I'm starting to catch up on episodes of Once Upon a Time I've missed that are still online for free (sadly, "Red Handed" isn't one of them). Spoilers ahoy!

What Happened to Frederick
--I don't really care about August at this point. He annoys me and he needs to stop pestering Emma. (Most of this was related to how he kept at her about going on a date.)
--David annoys me as well. He needs a good smack, from both Kathryn and Mary Margaret.
--I'm starting to adore Abigail/Kathryn simply because she's one of the few people who actually spits out what she's thinking and feeling.
--I'm still not always impressed by the dialogue on this show. ex. James: "None have my fearless bravery." *thud*
--Maybe the siren is annoyed because nobody ever asks if they can take some of her water.

Heart of Darkness
--Oh my God, they staged an intervention for Snow! Laughing forever now.
--"I don't think you're going to find the answers you want at the bottom of that mug." Despite my earlier statement about August, I love how he's talking to Henry like they're drowning their sorrows at a bar.
--God forbid James just say, "Rumplestiltskin says if you kill the Queen, you'll become as evil as her."
--I know Rumplestiltskin wanted the cloak for James's hair but I also have fun imagining him swirling around his castle in it.

IIRC, What Happened to Frederick got me interested in the show again after a long stream of episodes where I either only passively liked them or was annoyed by them, with brief bits I really liked. (The fairy tale part of Skin Deep almost lost me completely.) I wondered the same about the siren. (And, you know, most of these guardians of magic things/places.) August pressuring Emma to go out with him despite her refusals and how it was supposed to be "cute" have killed any chances that pairing had with me, much less his character, and I already disliked him before that.

What killed me about the intervention was the cute little red bows in her hair. Like, did they sneak those on her while she slept hoping she'd start acting as cute as she looked or something?

James in general is kind of...a well intentioned dude who's useful to have around, but not that bright. David too, except less so on the "useful" front. (It might aggravate us all a lot and he may be wishywashy, but it does make sense to a degree: he has the (fake) memories and feels/felt he should try to make it work despite no emotional connection to them and Kathryn is so supportive and honest that he'd feel like scum telling her he feels nothing and wants to break up. He's still rather douchey in general, but he's hopefully starting to shape up-I've seen a theory that the curse is a lot stronger on him because he's Snow's happy ending so even if everyone else ends up happy, Snow still won't have her happy ending if the curse is still making him the Bad Decisions King.)

I was so happy to find something likable in Abigail with her attitude of "Yeah, I don't want to marry you either. Moving on..."

I loved the red bows! She's trying to commit bloody murder and there are little bows in her hair! I totally believe that they fixed up her hair while she was sleeping.

James doesn't have to be bright, he has Snow White. :)

I definitely am of the August-is-Baelfire team, and am dreading tonight's episode since it looks like it's Bae-centric and I don't want my theory to be broken. He can be a bit of a knobhead in his approach, but he's not unlike his father in my own headcanon ;) (Plus, in the last episode, some of what he said about writing rang so true for me)

Also, re. the fearless bravery, oh James. Stop trying to pretend you're not a shepherd. You're not a Prince. Deal with it. Fearless bravery or whatever. Incidentally, I can't get over how much I love James compared to David, who I would neuter with bricks.

I definitely am of the August-is-Baelfire team... I know, I've been reading your theories. :) I would like August more if he were given a "how to talk to girls for dummies" book but like you said, his father isn't the best role model for social interaction.
