amusing Escaflowne musings
Apr. 24th, 2015 07:56 pmRewatching Escaflowne recently and I got to episode 3 (Fanelia's been burned down, Allen and his crew, and Dilandau are introduced). I definitely did not appreciate the comedy in it last time I watched this show.
So at the beginning of the episode, our main characters are in the woods at night. Mole Man's been chased off, Hitomi and Van are both unconscious (fainted and knocked out, respectively) and Allen's just standing them. When the next scene opens, Hitomi is waking up in a bed (SURROUNDED BY EVERY GUY THERE WHILE ALLEN HITS ON HER, WHAT THE HELL UGH) and Van wanders in soon. I'm just...how did Allen get them both back there? Okay, he's older than both Hitomi and Van who are on the scrawny side and he could have carried them back, but that only allows for moving them one at a time. How far are they away from that fortress, anyway. Does he stick one of them up in a tree for safety while toting the other one back. Does he somehow hand his owl for backup?
And how does the crew of the Crusade react? Are they surprised or is this just an average Friday night for them?
It's like that riddle about the fox, the goose, the sack of grain, and the river, but so much funnier.
