This is the story I had said would be posted by the end of September. Life got in the way.

You don't need to have read The Lais of Marie de France to enjoy and understand it, though it will be even more fun if you have.

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] starstruckduck for beta-reading.

Title: The Lais of Marie de France Parody Theatre
Fandom: The Lais of Marie de France
Warnings: Length (it's really long) and at least a PG-13 rating for language and innuendo.

Whoever has good material for a story is grieved if the tale is not well told )

This would have been so much easier to write if Marie de France had bothered to name her female characters.

With it now being the Halloween season, I thought I'd mention some of my favorite stories that get me in the proper mood.

--"The Erl-King" by Goethe
--"La Belle Dame sans Merci" by John Keats (Last week I recited it for one of my literature classes and did a kick-ass job, if I may say so.)
--Carmilla by Sheridan le Fanu (An excellent vampire story that is not as widely read as it should be.)
--Dracula by Bram Stoker (Of course.)
--The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
--The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury

Anything else? Not even necessarily for Halloween, just if you're in the mood to be scared.
