Dear Yuletide Santa,
I’m fairly easy to please, as most of my requested fandoms are small enough that I’ll be happy to get any fan fiction in them. You can poke around my LJ to get ideas about what I like and all of my fic is also posted at AO3. My only major turn-offs in fic that I can think of are incest and dubious/non-consent. I like humorous fic a lot but other genres are good, too. For the fandoms where I selected “any” for the characters (and even with “Tower at Stony Wood”, where I specifically asked for Melanthos), feel free to include characters who weren’t nominated. I’ve included some plot suggestions with each fandom but I have no problem with using your own ideas if that works best for you.
Keeper’s Chronicles – Tanya Huff
Some story ideas if you find them useful: a case for Claire or Diana; shenanigans at the boarding house; something using a minor character (ex. Byleth); the adventures of an original Keeper or Cousin.
I love the potential for adventures in these books. It’s interesting when the Keepers reference other “cases” in their past. The cats being snarky is always fun and Hell is hilarious. I would be happy with fic for any of the above story ideas but feel free to come up with your own plots; I’m just eager to see a story written in this fandom.
Bloody Jack Adventures – L.A. Meyer
There are so many awesome things about these books—Jacky’s hijinks, the romantic escapades, the historic and literary references, the traveling. You could write about the girls of the Lawson Peabody, or Jacky’s espionage missions, or her continuously-foiled romance with Jaimy.
Anything in this fandom will make me awesome but I would particularly love it if you can fit in references to literary or historical character. I’ve read all of the published books, so don’t worry about spoilers.
Princess Tutu
My favorite things about this series are the classical music, ballet, fairy tales atmosphere, and the blurred lines between fiction and reality. I’d be happy with a story featuring any or all of these.
I love pretty much all of the characters in this series, both major and minor (ex. Femio’s episode is one of my favorites because it keeps being hilarious every single time). Tchaikovsky was also the first classical composer I listened to and he’s now my favorite. My biggest request is that you don’t write a Fakir-turns-Duck-back-to-human story if possible, since there are so many already.
Tower at Stony Wood – Patricia A. McKillip
I want to know what happens to Melanthos after the novel ends. Does she marry Anyon and stay in their village, or learn magic and travel under the sea to where her mother came from, or visit her mother at court and meet the people there? Does she do all of these things?
This is the first McKillip novel I read and it’s still my favorite. I love McKillip’s language, writing style, and the characters. I think Melanthos is the character I most easily identify with—she’s not a sea witch or a knight or a prince who wants vengeance, she’s a woman who loves a man and her family, and stumbles into a mystery she can’t turn away from.
