Last night my family and I went to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie. Overall I had a lot of fun, although the constant shifting between frozen, slowed, and sped-up camera action during fight scenes annoyed me. Other things:

--I liked Simka
--Stephen Fry as Mycroft was hilarious. I especially liked his little curls during the peace summit.
--Holmes and Watson waltzing!
--Normally I don't care much for Jude Law. However, I do like his performances as Watson
--Throughout the whole thing I kept thinking that I recognized the actor playing Moriarty. I finally had a chance to check imdb and realized that he plays Lane Pryce on Mad Men.
--Mary is great! I do feel bad for her, being attacked on her honeymoon and then shoved out of a train like that.
--The make-up for Holmes's drag disguise made me think of a disturbing cross between the Joker from The Dark Knight and Dr. Frank'n'Furter from Rocky Horror Picture Show
--I could have lived without some of the "meat hook" scene.

Are we supposed to believe that Irene Adler is dead? It's stated and shown that she's poisoned with tuberculosis and is taken away after she collapses, but never explicitly said that she dies. I would assume that this happens, except that in these movies it's been shown that, much like in anime, "If you don't see the body, they probably aren't dead."

I was so glad that Simka didn't die! We have three major female characters and one (Irene) is out of the picture near the beginning. I would have been ticked off if Simka were killed.

The fabric camoflague at the end!!! Didn't see that one coming, although I did predict the use of Watson's "wedding present" after Holmes stopped breathing.
