Apr. 2nd, 2010 04:45 pmI know I usually post about fandom issues and avoid real-life drama, but today I can't help myself: A preacher in the Vatican compares anger over the Catholic sex abuse scandal to persecution faced by the Jews.
Just, what? A world of no.
A lot of other organizations have already called him out on it. My reaction is this: Jewish people have faced persecution because of beliefs as ridiculous as the idea that they sacrificed non-Jewish children (this turned up a lot in the Middle Ages) to the Devil. The Catholic Church is facing criticism because of real actions. You (members of the Catholic clergy) want people to stop being angry at you? Stop having sexual contact with children and covering it up!
