Note: Pamplona is a city in the region of Navarre in Spain. The running of the bulls takes place in several other places as well.

Today on the news I saw video clips of this year's running of the bulls in Pamplona. The reporter said that quite a few people (I can't remember the exact number) were gored by bulls during the festival. Nobody has been killed in years, however. Though my school in Spain was not very good, I did learn some things from the culture class. We were told that when people are injured during the running, the victims are usually tourists, and their injuries are caused by one or more of the things below:

--They did not look over the route beforehand.
--They arrived drunk.
--They chose to wear flip-flops to an event where they are supposed to run.

I would bet a lot of money that at least half of the people injured in Pamplona were tourists.

Despite this not being good publicity, it made me miss Spain again. (Another disappointment: the Alhambra did not win a spot in the new Seven Wonders of the World.)
