Events And A Request
Nov. 4th, 2006 08:50 pmCould somebody tell me where to find the NaNoWriMo counter you can put in an LJ, a blue bar that shows the percentage of what you've written out of the goal? I'm sure it is somewhere on their website, but I can't find it.
I know I said I would cut down on posts while writing, but this day has had too many events. (I think I mentioned I get these from Wikipedia but if I didn't, you know now.)
On November 4...
--1470: Edward V of England, one of the two princes in the tower, is born.
I always felt bad for him and his brother. They were so young when they were murdered, maybe or maybe not on Richard III's orders. They had been kept in the Tower of London for some time before they died. Since, then the ghosts of two little boys have been seen in the area of the tower where they lived. In the 1600s two small skeletons were found buried on the tower grounds; in the 1900s they were examined and it's almost certain they are the remains of the princes. Your opinions?
--1922: In Egypt, Howard Carter and his team find the entrance to King Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings.
Such a kick-ass event. I would have loved to see it.
--1948: T.S. Eliot wins the Nobel Prize in Literature.
It is good but ridiculous how much this man's work has been quoted and referenced.
--1970: Genie, a thirteen-year-old feral child, was found in Los Angeles, California, having been locked in her bedroom for most of her life.
I watched a documentary about feral children several weeks ago; Genie was one of the ones mentioned. It's so terrible when you hear about the things which have been done to children like her.
