All right, so I'm very behind on NaNoWriMo. Bite me.

I will be more agreeable once vacation arrives. There is so much to be done and it all has to be done now . I'm so tired.

I cannot wait to see Happy Feet . It's a movie about cute, tap-dancing penguins, put together with the help of Savian Glover!!! How can you go wrong?

One of my literature professors, Dr. Steinberg, generally dislikes movies and other entertainment that is "sensational"/completely non-educational. He specializes in medieval lit. To put it bluntly, anything later than the beginning of the Renaissance (except for Jane Austen) is too recent for him. This is an approximation of what happened in class yesterday when we got off-topic yet again:

Steinberg: Anyone know what's special about this coming Friday?
Two other girls and me: Happy Feet begins showing!!!
Steinberg: ...the hell are happy feet? I was talking about the new Bond movie.
Me: James Bond sucks.
Girl 1: It's an animated about penguins.
Girl 2: That tap-dance!
Steinberg: You are all insane.

I have known about Tanz der Vampire for quite a while now, but I hadn't gotten around to listening to any of the songs; everything I know about that musical I learned from excited babbling and fan fiction. Finally, I was poking around on YouTube and found some clips from the original production with the dearly departed Steve Barton.

Reaction: Wahoo!!!

For some reason, the computer in my room refuses to play YouTube at the moment; this leads to me being on a school computer in the library at 10 on Friday night, listening to Totalis Finisteris (spelling?) while working on NaNoWriMo. I've listened to a few other songs since then, but not all. Yes, I'm hooked. Stop saying, "It took long enough, damn it!"

Fortunately, amazon.com has CDs of this musical and I don't have to go all the way to a German website to buy it. Even better, my brother and I have an uncle who sends us books (and sometimes music) for our birthdays and Christmas. Going to Spain for the spring semester is my main present, but I'm thinking of adding Tanz to the list.

Even better: Mom and I have been hooked on Phantom of the Opera for a long time; we have a tradition of listening to the original cast recording on road trips. Since Steve Barton played Raoul, I think I'll be able to convert her without too much trouble. (scheming grin)

Does anyone else remember an anime movie of Swan Lake that was made during the 1970s? The English dub cast (the only version I've listened to) included Christopher Atkins, Pam Dawber, Kay Lenz, and David Hemmings. It was a truly wonderful, lovely movie; we taped it off television when I was five or so. The animation is very good for the 70s and much of Tchaikovsky's original music was used. Rothbart's daughter, Odile, was my favorite character because she's so delightfully snarky. There are also two squirrels who try to help out the heroes. Does anyone know if this can be found on VHS or DVD? I've watched it so many times that my tape is getting worn out and I really want to get a new copy.
