lol I'm trying to remember how I even found out about Princess Tutu a few years back. I think I saw a fanvid, found the episodes uploaded to YouTube, and then devoured the series in something like 2-3 weeks.
I would say that I had that reaction to both shows but for slightly different reasons. Both series have a lot of symbolism but Princess Tutu's usually makes more sense, where in Utena a lot of it appears (and I think, is) totally random. Both shows have tons of plot twists that you don't expect. And although both series have a lot of what-the-hell-was-that hilarity, Utena has more episodes devoted to it (ex. the curry body switch) and Princess Tutu has it more inserted into the regular storyline. I think Utena also has at least 10 more episodes, which gives more space for filler. I definitely did lots of excited shrieking and flailing during both of them. :)

What part are you up to in Utena?
