Episode 9
The good:
--Lin getting her cops back (even though they still lost their bending, poor guys). I was worried they would drag that out a lot longer.
--Tenzin actually demanding to know why the rest of Team Avatar isn’t in jail, like they’re supposed to be
--Korra finally getting in touch with her spiritual side
--Korra figuring out a way to keep from getting electrocuted
--Getting to see more of the original Team Avatar
--Lin’s retractable shoes are still the most awesome costuming decision on this show.
--We get a one-hour finale!!! (Although I’m still getting used to watching LOK in “real time” as opposed to when I watched all of TLA within a month.)
The bad:
--Increasing amounts of a love triangle with an oblivious Mako that makes Asami feel bad. I do not care about this subplot, guys! It makes me feel bad for the girls and it’s boring! (That said, it was entertaining to see Bolin be the world’s worst liar when Asami confronted him.)
Episode 10
--“Get away from my father’s ex-girlfriend!” Tenzin’s kids are so awesome. And the bit of Lin having to baby-sit was great. I kinda want crack fic where Tenzin’s kids end up meeting Amon and they beat him up/drive him insane.
--“That lady is my hero.” Excuse me, I just have a little something in my eye.
--LIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I have to say, that wasn’t as bad as I had thought: I’d seen some vague spoilers before watching this and for a while, I thought Lin was going to get killed off. I know this probably won’t happen but if anybody were to get their bending back by sheer badassery, it would be Lin.
--I would say this was an incredibly downer episode, if it weren’t for the bit with the new General Iroh at the end. OMGYAY!!!
--I do not at all blame Asami for being pissed-off at her increasingly stupid boyfriend. Bryan and Mike, why are you making me hate Mako? “Like Sensible People Do” has become even more my own personal canon for this relationship.
--Seriously, how has nobody pointed out the hypocrisy of Amon energy-bending?
--I can’t wait for the season finale but I’m terrified of what might happen at the same time. I hope Asami doesn’t decide to join the Equalists just because she’s angry.
--Once more: LIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ETA: Pema going into labor right then made me laugh but I was also kind of relieved because I really was wondering how long they were going to have her be pregnant.
