I was re-watching some episodes of Escaflowne recently and realized that the floating Zaibach fortress (seriously, how does that thing even work?) reminds me of Howl's castle. I'd love to find a ficlet or a comic where the two "buildings" accidentally switched places one day and everyone was extremely confused.

Ohh, I didn't catch that but now that you've pointed it out I could totally see it. Too bad there isn't a ton of fic for either of those. Escaflowne is practically a "lost classic" at this point - very few people from younger generation care or know about it.

The idea just came to me. I'd like to write about it, but I don't have any ideas as to a plot at the moment. Escaflowne was one of the first anime I saw and I still have a soft spot for it (the wonderful music!), despite the pointy noses and occasional plot holes.

I don't recall plot holes although there might have been. Compared to a lot of anime out there Escaflowne has always stood out to me as one of the more tightly written series. Pointy noses, that I definitely remember XD.

The two examples I can think of off the top of my head are how in the world did Hitomi and Merle manage to get sick from those poisoned seeds that seem to randomly appear early in the series (episode 4?); and exactly how did Dilandau turn into Celena and manage to wander off all that way from the Zaibach fortress near the end?
