To give them credit, the gmail team did create the option of letting you disable Buzz completely by going into your settings. My problem is this:

When you choose this option, it says the decision cannot be reversed. I went ahead and did it anyway. Yet at the bottom of the screen where all the options are in small print, it still says "turn on Buzz." Have not yet attempted this, but I'm wondering if their "permanently disabled" solution is as permanent as is advertised.

My understanding is that it's permanent but not irreversible. As in, you could change your mind and reactivate it, but when it's off, it's truly off.
